Candles that are trimmed to 1/4" inch, the appropriate height will last longer, burn better and be more fragrant in comparison to candle wicks that are not maintained throughout a candles life. If you don't trim your candle wick, carbon and soot builds up causing mushrooming. Untrimmed wicks have a bigger flame which can sometimes cause smoke and a flickering candle flame. This makes the candle burn hotter and faster. Trimming your candle wick is an important part of candle care.

These trimmers are not be confused as wick cutters. They are designed for trimming burnt wicks.
